How Our Validation Tools Work

Card Number Validation

Our card validator uses the Luhn algorithm (also known as the modulus 10 algorithm) to verify the basic structural integrity of credit and debit card numbers. This mathematical formula is used worldwide by financial institutions to validate card numbers.

In addition to the Luhn check, our system:

  • Identifies the card issuer (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) based on the Bank Identification Number (BIN)
  • Verifies the appropriate length for each card type
  • Detects common input errors and formatting issues

Bank Account Validation

Our account validator checks both routing numbers and account numbers to ensure they follow proper formatting standards and correspond to valid financial institutions.

The validation process includes:

  • Verifying routing number format and checksum
  • Checking account number length and format requirements
  • Identifying the financial institution associated with the routing number
  • Confirming support for ACH and wire transfers

What the Results Mean:

A valid result means the number passes format checks but does not guarantee the card is active or has funds. Always confirm with your issuer. For more on fraud prevention, check our blog article on BIN Checkers.
